CIVIL LITIGATION DIVISION

TRIAL SECTION – EMPLOYMENT UNIT

DUTIES:  The successful candidate will defend the Commonwealth, its agencies, and officials in state and federal courts, with a focus on employment related claims.  The representation will include drafting pleadings and briefs, conducting all aspects of discovery, including investigation and advice to clients through the course of litigation, court appearances, trial and appellate work.  Demonstrated proficiency in client counseling and training in employment matters also is desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Admission to the Virginia State Bar required.  A minimum of three to five (5) years practicing employment law preferred.  The position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in time management, and the ability to work independently and as a team member.  Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision.  The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and will be subject to a criminal background check.  Some overnight travel will be required.  This position presents an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right candidate to be part of a dynamic team and to perform a valuable public service.
