TOBACCO ENFORCEMENT SECTION
DUTIES: Conducts audits of tobacco product manufacturers and licensed tobacco product SET stampers to validate cigarette tax stamping and cigarette sales and purchase reports, and ensure compliance with Virginia tobacco laws and the Master Settlement Agreement. In addition, Auditors maintain databases, financial records, and regulatory documentation relating to tobacco sales and escrow payments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in time management, the ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks, strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to work independently and as a team member, the ability to organize and analyze large quantities of information, keen attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative. Applicants must have knowledge of accounting and audit terminology and techniques; understand basic mathematical skills; have the ability to understand and analyze financial records, including banking transactions and business records; have the ability to draft business correspondence, written reports and spreadsheet reports; and have the ability to lift and work extensively with physical records, either in files or in archive boxes. This position also requires the ability to work in an office environment and to engage professionally, cooperatively and helpfully with colleagues. Criminal background checks will be completed on the successful candidate.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is preferred that applicants possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
