~ Herschel “Mickey” Harden has been charged with two felony counts of object sexual penetration ~

RICHMOND (February 6, 2020) – Herschel “Mickey” Harden, 72, of Williamsburg, was indicted yesterday on two felony counts of object sexual penetration. Harden was indicted by the King William multi-jurisdictional grand jury.

The indictments are related to alleged sexual contact by Harden on a former patient in 2018 and 2019 while employed as a psychotherapist at Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents in New Kent County, Virginia. Harden was taken into custody by the Virginia State Police and will have an arraignment hearing in New Kent County Circuit Court on February 10, 2020 to determine counsel and set a trial date.

The indictments are part of an ongoing investigation by the Virginia State Police and will be prosecuted by members of Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring’s Major Crimes and Emerging Threats Section.

If anyone has additional information about these or other allegations at Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents they may contact the Virginia State Police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations at (804) 537-6788.

Criminal indictments are only charges and not evidence of guilt. Harden is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.
