HEALTH, EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SERVICES DIVISION
CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT SECTION

 

DUTIES:  Assist the Senior Assistant Attorney General/Child Support Section Chief, four Directors of Legal Operations (Eastern, Western, Central, and Headquarters), and Bankruptcy Expert in providing legal services to the Division of Child Support Enforcement.  Obtain information, analyze data and recommend action on legal, legislative, policy, appellate, and training matters to the legal services management team and the agency director; provide research, analysis, and recommendations in all substantive areas of the law affecting the child support program; serve as a liaison between legal services and the agency; and work with the legal services management team, legal staff, and agency staff statewide.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Excellent organization, research, writing and interpersonal skills are required.  The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality; work independently and make sound decisions is required.  Knowledge of legal research procedures; preparation of briefs for cases before state and federal agencies and courts; and applicable court rules, rules of evidence, administrative rules and procedures is necessary.  The ability to express legal interpretations or conclusions of law clearly and logically in oral and written form, and to quickly assimilate oral and written data, analyze facts, and draw logical conclusions is required.  The optimal candidate will be skilled at organizing and managing time, preparing and proofreading documents, interpersonal relationships, attention to detail, and computerized applications.
