Fair Credit Billing
The federal Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) applies to "open end” credit accounts, such as credit cards and revolving charge department store accounts. It does not apply to installment contracts – loans or extensions of credit you repay on a fixed schedule. The FCBA also establishes procedures for resolving billing errors on your credit card accounts. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is the governmental agency that has the most complete regulatory and enforcement authority over the provisions of the FCBA. The FCBA also provides for private rights of action.
