EDUCATION SECTION

 

DUTIES:  The successful candidate will provide representation and a variety of legal services to administrators of public universities and state education agencies.  This will be a general practice, and will include work in, among other areas, employment law, constitutional issues, student issues, contract and procurement matters, regulation, and federal and state education law.  The candidate must have excellent writing skills and be prepared to appear in the appropriate state or federal court.  The individual must be able to respond to legal requests in a timely fashion.  Additionally, this person will provide other legal services to the Commonwealth as directed by the Office of the Attorney General.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have an interest in public education and education law.  Successful candidate will have excellent analytical and writing abilities and oral communication skills.  The candidate will be required to have at least two years in the general practice of law, preferably with experience in state or local government law.  Experience in  immigration and intellectual property matters is a plus.  Excellent interpersonal skills are also required.  High level of organization skills, an ability to manage several projects simultaneously, and to work under pressure is required.  Must be admitted to the Virginia bar or eligible for immediate admission.
