CONSTRUCTION LITIGATION SECTION

 

This position represents the Commonwealth on construction litigation issues and related issues that arise during the administration of a construction contract.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Demonstrated ability to advise clients on construction law issues, construction contract administration issues, and construction litigation issues.    The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills as evidenced by writing samples and references.  The qualified candidate must be willing to work individually and as part of a team.  Excellent interpersonal skills are required because the position involves extensive client contact, as well as interaction with judges and court personnel.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years relevant litigation experience, including first chair trial experience.  Must be admitted to the Virginia Bar.

 

DUTIES:  Provide legal services to agencies in the Commonwealth on construction litigation issues and on issues that arise during the administration of a construction contract.  Work includes representing clients in administrative proceedings.  Primary clients will be the Department of Transportation, the Department of General Services, other Departments and public colleges and universities in the Commonwealth.  Located in Richmond, this position reports to the Chief of the Construction Litigation Section.  Although this position will be primarily dedicated to construction law and litigation issues, the position may also be called upon to support other general litigation matters within the Office. In addition, the position may involve advice on contract issues with particular relevance to litigation.  As with all positions, other duties as necessary or appropriate may also be assigned.  Some overnight travel may be required.
