Debbie Bell - Southwest Virginia Community Outreach Coodinator

In April of 2014, Debbie Bell joined the Office of the Attorney General as their Roanoke based, Community Outreach Coordinator.  Debbie’s region covers 21 counties in our Commonwealth, and she currently serves on various committees such as the Virginia Coalition for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, the Elder Justice Task Force, The Prescription Drug Task Force, The Virginia Crime Prevention Association, and the Virginia Gang Investigator’s Association.

The Southwest Region Community Outreach Coordinator’s role is to provide education and link agencies and individuals with appropriate resources throughout the Attorney General’s Office.  Such matters may include: Medicaid provider fraud, elder abuse and neglect, prescription drug and heroin abuse issues, gang activity awareness, human sex and labor trafficking awareness, cultural competency educations, forming and providing support for TRIAD groups, computer crimes, domestic violence issues, animal cruelty concerns, and consumer protection.

The Southwest Regional Outreach Coordinator works closely with law enforcement agencies, Social Service and Adult Protective Agencies, Area Agencies on Aging, Drug Prevention Councils, the Department of Criminal Justice Services, and many others.  Specifically, Debbie has had training on Abuse Later in Life, Domestic Extremism and Hate Groups, Healthcare Fraud and Program Integrity, Prescription Drug Diversion, Human Trafficking and Healthcare Response, Combating Animal Fighting, and Elder Fatality Review, Drug Enforcement Wiretap Technologies, Investigating and Prosecuting Strangulations, and Gang Activity and Awareness training.
