OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

HEALTH CARE FRAUD AND ELDER ABUSE SECTION
MEDICAID FRAUD CONTROL UNIT
(Roanoke, Virginia)

DUTIES:  Position works in a varied capacity and supports Unit attorneys by performing initial investigative review of claims filed against the Commonwealth specifically Qui Tam cases alleging fraud in the Virginia Medicaid Program. Conducts witness interviews, preparing drafts of legal documents and memoranda for attorney review, performing legal research and writing analytical memoranda for attorney review, maintaining document and file control, and assisting in all phases of trial preparation and the discovery process.  This position will work out of the Roanoke, Virginia Regional Office.   

QUALIFICATIONS:  Competent working knowledge of legal terminology, and court procedures.  Position requires excellent written communication skills, as demonstrated in a writing sample (no page length requirement).  Successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional verbal communication skills, proficiency in time management, the ability to work independently and as a team member, and the ability to organize and analyze large quantities of written and verbal information.  Candidate must also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision.  Litigation experience is required.  Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or Legal Assistant Certificate is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the required qualifications may substitute for educational criteria.  Position supports itself and requires basic word processing skills.  Experience with Microsoft Word is a plus.
