The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a qualified individual to join the Special Prosecutions and Organized Crime Section of the Public Safety and Enforcement Division. FINANCIAL INVESTIGATOR/COMPUTER FORENSIC EXAMINER
PUBLIC SAFETY AND ENFORCEMENT DIVISION
SPECIAL PROSECUTIONS & ORGANIZED CRIME SECTION

DUTIES:  Conduct investigations of financial and financial related crimes under the Virginia criminal code.  Responsible for performing and investigating work in complex financial crimes cases such as money laundering, bank fraud, embezzlement, identity theft and other related crimes.  Tasked with conducting complex and technical criminal investigations of crimes facilitated by or involving computers.  Work collaboratively with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Responsible for working with local, state, and federal task forces as well as individual agencies.  Prepare evidence for prosecution and testifies to such findings in state and federal courts as needed.  Assist with special projects as needed.  Some travel may be required, including overnight.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in time management, ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks, strong planning and organizational skills, ability to work independently and as a team member, ability to organize and analyze large quantities of information, keen attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative.  Applicants must have a criminal justice or related undergraduate degree, law enforcement certification or commensurate experience.  Major course work in criminal justice or prior investigative experience is preferred, however an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the required qualifications may be substituted for educational criteria.  Candidates should have demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing and database management systems (Microsoft products preferred).  Criminal background check will be completed on successful candidate.
