DUTIES: The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for assisting localities and the citizenry in accessing the resources of the Office of the Attorney General and for providing information about Medicaid Fraud. The incumbent will develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with a variety of agencies, serve on locally based crime prevention and intervention groups, plan and implement training, develop tools for local programs, communicate emerging needs and trends back to the Office of the Attorney General, develop and maintain all promotional materials and publications, develop and implement program evaluation tools, write program proposals, and other duties as assigned. This position is located in the Hampton Roads (Chesapeake/Norfolk) area, and requires frequent and extensive travel across the Commonwealth and occasional travel outside of the state.
QUALIFICATIONS. Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in one of the following areas: social work, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, public administration, education, mass communications or other related subject. Applicants must have experience developing traditional and non-traditional collaborative partnerships. Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and have experience training a variety of audiences. Experience with program development and in marshalling community resources is required. Knowledge of the criminal justice systems a must. Candidates must have demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing (Microsoft products preferred). Criminal background check will be completed on successful candidates.
